The Most Urgent Case: Dog Hit by Car in Desert
Share
It's absolutely crazy how many animals are dumped in the desert and are left to die! I don't understand how these people can sleep at night.
McDuffie was hit by a car, suffered a terrible injury, and was luckily spotted by an 86-year-old woman who invited him to her house and called PAW CARE CENTER for help.
Katie McKittrick drove three hours to the desert to pick him up, introduced herself to this sweet boy, and then drove three hours back to CARES. It was pretty late, so I waited at the hospital along with the medical team so we could start treatment right away. You can see by the look of his eyes that he just wanted to be helped and loved. Our supporters rallied and helped us raise the funds for his surgery right away! 💝

On Friday, I rescued a senior poodle mix, and he needs a major dental - the bone in his jaw can't even hold his teeth. 😓

We do many rescues in the desert, and one of my favorites is this family with a mom and her puppies that Loreta and I rescued with a clever little trick:
The great news is that our friends at Maison Sûre found McDuffie a great foster with one of the veterinary technicians at CARES, and they fell in love and adopted him! McDuffie now gets to run and play as if his leg was never broken!
Please watch the video until the end - the footage filmed by his adoptive dad is beautiful! ❤️
